Always a gentle breeze running up the valley to the house, that is perched overlooking the wide undulating Australian landscape. Enjoy your morning coffee and afternoon sundowner on the large wrap around verandah watching the sunrise or set as the cows gently moo and meander through the distant surrounding paddocks.

As a farm stay, there’s plenty of cattle dotted through the pastures and two friendly horses who reside near the house, plus 4 Batam fluffy chickens to get up close and personal with.

The house itself is a very clean and homely residence where one can feel comfortable straight away with everything you need. Indoors is light-filled property with many windows that overlook the rural views.

Follow the old train track into quaint Kandanga village, for a swim at the town pool, or an awesome pub meal at Kandanga Hotel. There is so much to see and do in Kandanga and the neighbouring towns.

This is a working cattle property with all the owners’ facilities at this location so there will be times when they will need to get something from the shed and attend to the cattle at the yards which are only approx 100m from the house. Guests are welcome to be involved with the animals but must remember that they are not all able to be handled and adult supervision is essential. There is lovely quiet quarterhorse named Hottie and a pet calf named Medway who are fed twice daily at the moment. If guests require complete privacy just let us know and we’ll ensure you are not disturbed.

The name ‘Kandanga’ is derived from the local Kabi Aboriginal language, meaning a fork or sharp bend of the creek and is one of a chain of towns in the Mary Valley also including Imbil, Amamoor and Dagun. As you come into Kandanga from the south, there is a little park that offers a tease of what is to come with an old dray, a relic of its historical past, a picnic area and a great view from the park.

Just two hours from Brisbane, and 40 minutes from Noosa. You can take day trips into the Imbil forestry, visit Fraser Island or swim at the beach, coming back to country peace and quiet in the evening. Come try your luck fishing at Borumba Dam, where the Saratoga is a common catch, or pack a picnic and take the four-wheel-drive for a run to Jimna, kayak on the creek, horse riding, bushwalking, trail bike riding or to simply soak up the country air and slow down again. Mary Valley Country offers a surprising array of National Parks, State forests, reserves, creeks, rivers and waterways. This stunning natural environment provides numerous opportunities for those passionate about outdoor pursuits and recreation.
